Diane Does it Again

As you may know, I have a woman crush on Diane Von Furstenburg.  I’ve followed her home goods line from Bloomingdales and thanks to Raina I have a magazine with Diane on the cover in one of her famed wrap dresses.  I ate my dinner with her silverware, and I have a few of her wrap dresses too but am too big at this point…Anyway, she’s done it again!  She’s come out with a fabulous, colorful, fun fabric line at Kravet!  Get a load of the awesomeness:

If this isn’t a vibrant and fabulous inspiration board, I don’t know what is.

Here are some fun blues–a blue animal printed lampshade and a fabulous trim are two of my favorite peices in this room.

Pink and orange makes a fun and SUPER bright color combination and I love the use of the wide stripes with the patterned drapery.

Do you work with a more neutral palette like I do at work?  These abstract animal prints and the tone on tone floral are great choices.  I do LOVE animal prints so this whole line is very exciting to me.

So what do you think?  I think I can’t wait to use one (or all) of these fabrics in a project sometime soon.  I’m also so impressed with the fact that she has a trim line as well.  The graphic black and white pseudo chevron patterned one is perfection.  DVF has done it again–I hope I see much more of these fabrics in designers rooms!

Bunny Williams Home–Outdoor!

Is there anything this woman doesn’t do?  I’ve long been an admirer of Bunny Williams’s classic designs and always loved her furniture line, Bunny Williams Home.  However…it just got better.  She’s now introduced an outdoor furniture line and an indoor/outdoor rug line and just in time!  Let’s take a look at some of my favorites as the warm weather approaches:

A modified goose eye pattern makes up this outdoor carpet, Annabelle.  Made of recycled materials and comes in standard sizes, starting at $73.

Cleo moss

I think this pattern might be my favorite.  I’m showing it to you in Moss but it comes in a grey and a blue as well.

Drink cart

I love this teak drinks cart.  The fabulousness is in the details, with the square patterns that make up the surface of this cart.

Garden Bench

An instant classic, this garden bench also has a coordinating armchair and would look perfect with any of the tables in the same space.
Square dining table

Here is one of the tables I was referring to.  The pedestal base is classic but the zinc top freshens it up a bit.

Marco Juniper

Here is another geometric patterned rug that I really love from the collection. This one, the Marco in Moss, is made of Jute.

I forgot to mention that Bunny’s rugs are made through Dash and Albert and this cinnamon and faded blue plaid fits right into the D & A Collection.

Complete Casual Entertaining collection

This isn’t outdoor or rugs but it’s a peek into her paper goods collection.  Didn’t I say that Bunny does everything?!  I’m always looking for fun papergoods for a little party or get together and these faux boix plates, cocktail and guest napkins are just the thing. The collection also has invitations, notecards, coasters, a guest book, and plates of many sizes.

The outdoor furniture and rugs are available through the trade, through Dash & Albert (rugs), and Century Furniture (outdoor furniture). I really wish I had a terrace for the furniture and putting a rug down would make it feel that much more comfortable and homey. Take a look are more of her amazing designs on her website!

Tomorrow: The Best Shopping Day of the Year

Screen Shot 2014-04-04 at 7.50.48 PM

Forget Black Friday.  Black friday is trash compared to tomorrow (it’s a trash day anyway).  I don’t want to oversell this, but a warehouse full of incredible one of a kind finds collected by the legendary fashion icon and designer, Iris Apfel will be for sale on One Kings Lane.  After graduating from NYU with a degree in art history and then working for an interior designer, she got married, and together, she and her husband founded the fabric house, Old World Weavers.  After that, she was just fabulous.  Now are you ready to be inspired for your big shopping day tomorrow?

Here is a smattering of some of the items that will be for sale tomorrow.  Such unique items.

iris arch digest fashion

From Architectural Digest, this is one of Ms. Apfel’s incredible outfits.  I love pink with turqoise.

iris closet

How cute is she in her closet?  Apparently she was one of the first women in the New York to wear boots.  Trail. Blazer.

iris hallway

Her incredible apartment is in AD.  The fact that she founded Old World Weavers is certainly apparent. This hallway is lined with dog portraits. What a great collection of books, too.

iris in pink

 I just plain love this.

Here is another peice that is going to be for sale tomorrow.  Are you getting an idea of how fabulous tomorrow is going to be?

Screen Shot 2014-04-04 at 7.52.23 PM

How can you not be completely head over heels for this sale.  I want these shoes.  Badly.

So are you ready for tomorrow?  10AM is when the sale of a lifetime (remember when I said I didn’t want to oversell it?) starts on One Kings Lane.  Can’t wait!

Cute Preggo Clothing: JoJo Maman Bebe

Screen Shot 2014-03-27 at 9.45.45 PM

I think that some of my readers can relate to this: Maternity clothing is the pits.  Now that I’m in my 6th month of pregnancy, I’m starting to show and my tummy is getting large.  My skinny jeans have moved to leggings and the belts on my favorite potato sack dresses are non existant.  The choices out there are not ideal too though they have gotten better.  They’re either super haggy or you look like a pregnant woman going to a club (Sorry Jessica Simpson).  If you haven’t heard of Zulily.com, you should join ASAPit’s a flash sale site for all things baby.  I found this adorable maternity line, JoJo Maman Bebe, that is not only preppy and fun, but affordable as well.

Maternity shift dress

A lot of the clothing is blue and white (tres nautical) but I am really into this Maternity Shift Dress in beige and white.

I got this super cute tankini from the Zulily sale with little daisys on it.  I like that it looks like an actual one peice and not a tankini.

Blue Spot print maternity blouse

A preppy top that could go with preggo jeans or leggings and allows your tummy to grow too!

Breton Stripe skirt

I also ended up getting this fun and sporty Breton striped skirt.  I can’t wait to strut to my yacht in it!

Navy Breton Stripe Maxi Skirt

A maxi skirt, this one the Navy Breton Stripe, might be the most comfortable thing for me right now as a preggo.  I want like 7 of these.

If you’ve been to the website, you can see this is a UK based company but they sell through Amazon so we’re good to go!  They also have ADORS baby clothing and some fun accessories and furniture.  Overall, I’m pretty impressed and for the price…I’m IN.  Again, HERE is the website.

Seema Krish Fabric Obsession

Seema Krish

I was introduced to Seema Krish fabrics last year through one of our fabric reps at the office and I’ve been obsessed ever since.  They are fun and colorful embroidered or hand blocked fabrics designed by San Francisco based Seema Krish from Bombay India.

This is by fun bedroom sitting room is by Tom Scheerer.  The long pillow on the settee is a Seema Krish fabric which is block printed and embroidered.

In this little sitting area, the same fabric is used on pillows and the roman shades: Seema Krish Worli, which is also an embroidered fabric.

Another stunning pillow what makes quite a statement in this blue and red bedroom.  This is the Breach Candy fabric.

Seema Krish bedroom 1

Do you see a little bit of shimmer metallic shining at you from that bench fabric?  The answer is yes.  This bench is covered with this incredible fabric Mahalaxmi is block printed, embroidered, and has a little bit of sparkle.

Here are some of the new fabrics that come out this Spring from her New York Collection that I found on her website.  I can’t wait to see these in person!

A fun printed and embroidered chevron called Union Square.

Another great embroidered fabric in a geometric pattern called Manhattan and comes in 2 other colors.

chelsea_metropolitan_grayThis fun fabric called Chelsea comes in 3 different colors.  This beige and a navy are my favorite.

Have any of you used these fabrics?  I can’t wait to use some whenever I get the chance.  The emroidered ones would be great as roman shades, drapery or pillows.  There are other fabrics in the line that are plain with some sparkle in them that would be really fun as a chair or headboard fabric too.  What do ya’ll think?

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Martha Stewart heart necklace

Today is a day of love and even if you don’t have a special someone you should celebrate the love for yourself and my love for you!  To show you how much I adore you, my dear readers, here are some fun fabulous pink moments that caught my eye.  I get so into pink sometimes that I have a Pink Love board on Pinterest.

pink doors

I usually am drawn to blue in interiors but I love the unexpected pink.  These doors are adorable and I so want go sit in the pink chair…with a good book a Shirley Temple!

Pink shower

This is the ultimate girly shower with these shimmery pink tiles.  I’d love to do this for a girls bathroom or a fun guest bedroom.
jessica alba

Here is the always stunning Jessica Alba (or Honey) in a bright pink Reem Acra gown.  I think if I ever renewed my vows (like I was a celebrity or something) I’d wear a pink dress like this.

xoxo pillow

This is a super sweet pink throw pillow with my favorite sign off “xoxo” on it.  From Etsy seller Sassy Stitches by Lori.

pink painted cupboard

Yikes I love this.  This is such a fun way to make an old bookcase or cabinet look more fun–paint it!  And paint it pink, obvi.

Kerri Rosenthal

This painting, Be My Valentine, by Kerri Rosenthal is all love.

So whether you have a special someone or not, you have me!  And I’m telling you to break out the conversation hearts, flowers (please no carnations), and pink champagne and have a love filled day!  (ps–all these are on my Pinterest if you want to see them.)

Guest Room to…a Nursery Conversion!

I’m not one to make big flashy life announcements, and usually I like to loop things into my blog, so there you have it. We have this guest bedroom/office in our apartment and are elated to say that in about 6 months…it will be a nursery!

I have been crazy into designing the nursery, but it’s too soon to know if it’s a boy or a girl (3 more weeks!!) so have made a design scheme for each option.  We are keeping the paint color regardless of the gender so we’ll either accent it with light yellow (one of my fave colors), or do bright pops of pink…with lots of pattern.

Here is our boy scheme!  I love the yellow accents with blue.  We have a few existing pieces like a white wicker rocking chair from my bedroom at home and the dresser which we just purchased!  We’ll paint the trim on it depending  on what the little (right now) avocado turns out to be.

GirlThis is the girl scheme.  This one has lots more pattern and I love to accent the dark blue with bright pinks.

Curious about all the pieces?

Boy Scheme:  Harper Roman Shade Pottery Barn, Wall Mounted Giraffe, Lion, and Polar Bear Serena & Lily, Liberty Crib (in both schemes) Serena & Lily, Marni Crib Bumper Serena & Lily, Tailored Track Arm Glider RH Baby, Rug is existing.

Girl Scheme:  Dottie Roman Shade Pottery Barn, Pink Chevron Rug PB Kids, Starburst Bedding Serena & Lily, Mod Nod Swivel Glider in Doodle Quartz fabric Land of Nod, Papier Mache Elephants RH Baby.

Both are so different and we will be happy with either option because they’re so fun!  I’ll let you know as soon as we do which one we’re going with!  If you want to see more of my ideas, check out my (formerly secret) Bebe Love Pinterest board.  Now, after 3 months of nausea, my appetite is back, so if you’ll excuse me I’m going to go eat my second breakfast.  This baby is already eating me out of house and home and I couldn’t be happier!

Custom Artwork by Victoria Thompson

This past Christmas I wanted to give my husband a really special gift–not just the usual nice sweater, cool barware, or fun socks but something really different.  My friend from college (I have such talented friends!) is also an incredible artist.  I follow her, Victoria Thompson, on instagram @studio9201 (and you should too), and noticed that she kept posting the most beautiful watercolors.  I emailed her a picture that I really loved from our wedding to see if she MIGHT want to do a watercolor of it and she was SO excited and wanted to help me out with this awesome gift!

This is right after my husband and I were married and the MOMENT we opened the church doors, it started to rain (good luck, okaaaaay).  It’s such a sweet picture of my new husband holding an umbrella over me (since I’m so precious).  This picture was taken by the uber talented Iris Photography.

photo 2 (2)

Vicky was amazing and made a test proof for me to look at and approve before she sent the final copy.  Each proof was incredible and so striking and I needed this for Christmas so the timeline was tight but she made it happen even when she was travelling.  So easy to work with!

photo 1 (3)

Here is the final version, all framed up and pretty!  We had it framed at Michaels in a simple white frame, floating atop a light grey matte and put it in a small corner in our bedroom.  It makes us both so happy to look at and it’s perfect for our bedroom.  Please check out Victoria Thompson if you want one of her custom pieces like I did or even just one of her incredible works of art–isn’t this she amazing?  Thanks Vicky!

Thank you, Merci, Grazie

Screen Shot 2014-01-15 at 9.21.33 PM

Every Christmas my sisters would quietly, but not so secretly try to see who could write all their thank you notes first.  We don’t know who won (I did), but it’s become a tradition and a point of pride to write a good and prompt thank you note.  Even if the gift is small and maybe didn’t take that much time to get, it’s right to thank somebody.  It really makes a difference and makes that person feel appreciated.  I’m not here to lecture anybody on etiquette but it’s almost like a lost art these days.  The funny thing is, is that cute letter press thank you notes are everywhere so people should be scooping them up and writing their hands off!
Minted Color swatch

These color swatch cards are fun from Minted and you can buy tons!

Rifle Paper co

Say thank you in French!  Merci from Rifle Paper Co.

Etsy is literally home to adorable letterpress cards.  These black and white ones are simple and nicely packaged from KimberlyFitzSimmons.

Pink olive berry

Pink Olive has some of the cutest cards I’ve seen in a while. These Thank you Berry Much cards really get at me.

Pink olive beaver

How creative and sweet are these cards, also from  Pink Olive?!  This beaver card is irresistible.

Screen Shot 2014-01-15 at 9.24.19 PM

These cards are just simply beautiful, whimsical, and sweet.  From Paper Source–lots of great cards here even though it’s a chain.

Rock scissor paper heart

Thank you from the bottom of my heart with tons of hearts?  So cute and colorful from Rock Scissor Paper (one of my faves!)

creativity cards generosity

Who doesn’t love a card with a sense of humor and a compliment attached?  This awesome card from CreativityCards on Etsy.

Guttersnipe press bullAnother thank you card guaranteed to make the recipient smile while being self deprecating, as well. From Guttersnipe Press on Etsy.  Didn’t I tell you Etsy had the best cards!?

It’s nice to show gratitude for however large or small the gift was and let’s be real, email isn’t a thank you note.  Especially after you’ve seen all these!  So, do you guys write thank you notes?  Still writing some from Christmas (I owe one more to my Sister in law!)?

Judging the Golden Globes Red Carpet

Here are my nominations for my only two categories: You Crushed it, and You Blew it/What where You Thinking.  Here goes.

You Crushed It:

Amber Heard

Amber Heard.  SO beyond gorgeous this girl but I felt super old and out of it because she is among many of the people that I didn’t know at all!

Emma Watson

Emma Watson.  OMG cutest dress when it moves–wish I could see the back again.

Kate Beckinsale

Kate Beckinsale.  So much shimmering on this deco-ish dress, Kate Beckinsale is flawless.

Jennifer Lawerence

Jennifer Lawerence.  I just adore this girl.  Maybe this wasn’t the awesomest dress but it looked so comfortable like a giant potato sack with straps on it–in a good way.

Margot Robbie

Margot Robbie.  Another girl I haven’t heard of (I know, she’s in Wolf of Wall Street which I really want to see now.) but she rocked this dress and was breathtaking.  Nice pinky ring, too.

Mila Kunis

Mila Kunis.  I’m actually on the fence about this dress.  It starts out fun and sparkley but then I get bored at the bottom.  Also, I’m bored by her hair.  Shes so adorable and I think she’s bored too.

Olivia Wilde

Olivia Wilde.  Crushed. It.  Shes pregs and is absolutely ROCKING this green sparkley dress.

Sofia Vergara

Sofia Vergara.  Who doesn’t love this woman?  Curvy, fabulous and so funny (loved when she said during a Red Carpet interview that she was smuggling Columbians under her dress).

Zooey Deschanel

Zooey Deschanel.  If anybody can pull off a crop top, it’s this girl.  A charming free spirited girl.

You Blew it/What where You Thinking:

Before I rip into these girls, I love most of them and think they are fabulous and am saddened that they had to have such bad stylists.  Better luck next time.

Zoe Saldana

Zoe Saldana.  This literally looks like someones first pass at a dress before they get kicked off Project Runway.  That’s all.

Lena Dunham

Lena Dunham.  No. No, no no no no. I LOVE yellow, but this is a disaster.  People come in all shapes and sizes (myself included) and I don’t mean this in a body snarky way because I would never, but please hire a stylist that knows how to dress you for your body type.  She could look amazing if she wasn’t in a dress cut like this.

Juliana Margulies

Juliana Margulies.  I think I would love this dress if the background weren’t black.  I just don’t love the black and gold combo.  I love the shape though and the cut (and by cut I mean the deep-v).

Julia Roberts

Julia Roberts.  A friend on Facebook (and amazing designer) put it perfectly when he said that it looked like she forgot to remove her make up shirt.  Yes.  From the neck up and the boobs down, she looks awesome.

Drew Barrymore

Drew Barrymore.  I get it, she’s pregnant and so cute and a free spirit but this isn’t right.  It’s actually the pits.

Hayden PanettiereHayden Panettiere.  She’s super cute and I really want to get into Nashville but this dress looks cheap and not good.

LIKE I SAID, all of these women are so gorgeous but when you hire a bad stylist, I will take you down.   Also, I wanted to give an award for Coolest Glasses to Meryl Streep but couldn’t find a picture!  Weren’t they awesome!? Next blog will be 1 picture of a rug that I’m obsessed with (and it’s not the red carpet!!)
